Once you have received your degree in Christian Counseling, you must decide whether you want to work under the authority of your state (known as the business of counseling), or under the authority of your church (known as the ministry of counseling). All counselors are held accountable to one of these two entities, but it is up to you to decide which.

The counseling field offers a long list of specialties and occupations. Along the counseling path, there are programs in abundance, particularly through religious schools that provide Christian counseling degrees. However, each program can differ from the next in the important areas of curriculum, accreditation, certification, and licensure qualifications. An individual should consider the requirements necessary for their intended career before applying to a counseling program.
